As soon as my sister Lindsay began planning her wedding, I knew I had to link her up with our fabulous friend Renee who creates the most wonderful wedding invitations!  Together they came up with these amazing “honey bee” themed invitations that perfectly communicate to guests the simple elegant mood of the event. A whisper of glamour is in the details with a shimmering charcoal gray envelope and fine silver cording that ties the buzzing bee to the graceful yellow flower. Gorgeous!

It has literally been forever since I have sewn clothes. I was a little nervous about taking on the flowergirl dress. My fear was more related to not knowing how much time this would take to finish rather than how it would turn out. In total it took me roughly 15 hours to complete, but it really felt like it took one day since I was in the basement for 12 of those hours on Saturday { This was closely recorded by my husband, who was a little disgruntled at not having my company during the Spartans season opener this year. } But everything was going so well and turning out so cute I just couldn’t stop really 🙂 This is where I started- a pattern I planned to modify, an inspiration dress photo and some gorgeous yellow silk fabric….

Flowergirl dress inspiration photo.

Dress pattern to be modified into inspiration dress.

The pattern was easy to follow but not very true to size- It was very big! I used pattern pieces for Dress C-top and Dress A-skirt to get the look of the inspiration dress. I ended up still cutting another 7″ off the skirt length and took in about an 1 1/2″ in the back before putting in the zipper. I did not use a pattern for the sash/bow. This was purely educated guesswork 🙂 Love how it turned out!

Accomplishments from the weekend!

The ring pillow was completely inspired by some fabulous scrap fabric I had and the big flower in the inspiration dress photo. I couldn’t be happier with the way this pillow turned out. I especially love how the mixture of fabulous silk damask {on the back & edge} and simple cream linen {front} gives the perfect balance of rustic glamour Lindsay is looking for in her wedding details. I can’t wait for my sister to see this in person!

Yea! now on to the rest  of it 🙂

Once again we are screaming over the obnoxious talent of our fabulous friend Renee @ Renee Rodriguez Designs! We recently asked Renee to design alter egos for us to use on custom stationary as well as incorporate into our website and blog. We are beyond thrilled with what she came up with!

Meet Shannon & Carrie

I would like to introduce you to two fabulous ladies, Shannon & Carrie, of Emplume Moderne Couture Bouquets. Five years ago they started their creative business designing couture wedding bouquets from feathers, gems, ribbons and more. Their creations are absolutely stunning.

About a year ago they asked me to help them with their brochure design and marketing plan, a mission I gladly accepted. We meet once a month at Emplume headquarters and discuss their fabulous business over delicious martinis and yummy treats. (tough job, but someone has to do it)

Now these lovely ladies really love my “girly girls” and asked if I would draw both of them for their custom stationery. How could I refuse?

First I would like to introduce you to Shannon.

Emplume Shannon

She loves, loves, loves jewels, especially giant cocktail rings and wearing layers and layers of necklaces. Shannon has extremely good taste and an amazing creative mind.

Now, on to my other fabulous friend Carrie, too darn cute for words. She has a swanky little walk is always pulled together with perfection. She too has an affection for jewels and is the other creative mastermind behind Emplume.
Emplume Carrie

So now that you have met my lovely friends, you can see how gorgeous they look together on their beautiful new thank you notes. The will be printed on creamy stock and then embellished with a few swarovski crystals – I know shocking, right?

Emplume Thank you blog

If you would like to take a look at their stunning bouquets visit their Emplume website here. In addition to bouquets, they design hair accessories, corsages, wrist corsages, shoe clips and much more.**

Shannon and I are in love with every gorgeous ego she designs. See what I mean by visiting her very sassy and girly website reneerodriguezdesigns.com and blog Musings by Renee Rodriguez. Renee has also published a book filled with pages of different wonderful girls, each with a fabulous wish for you! Hence the title  ‘Fabulous Wishes For You’. This delightful little book makes a great gift for all your special girlfriends 🙂 Get a copy to share here!

Nothing! This video clip by Jamie Honce has been on continuous replay ever since we first hit “PLAY”! Jamie’s inspirational work has been a huge part of our overall vision for the ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s‘ inspired photo shoot we did last month w/ Nicole Ladonne. I am personally a huge wedding video junkie. This is probably mostly due to the fact that one of my biggest wedding “Do Overs” would be to have a wedding video of my own- precisely like the artful, modern style of video by Jamie Honce Productions. Not all wedding video is created equal to be sure, but do yourself a favor and spend some time on Jamie’s website and blog. His work is so top notch.

But first, do nothing else until you watch this! 🙂

Ciao Lovelies! – We know, it has been FOREVER. Can you tell that blogging is not completely our best task?  (we do have a really, really good reason that we have been distracted, but we can’t tell you yet! sorry.) We love to”Emplume”  and we love to talk, but actually finding time to follow through with a blog seems to be our downfall! Luckily we really LOOOOVE to create fabulous bouquets for brides from around the world, and once in a while – that love saves us! {by giving us a perfectly undeniable topic and pictures to blog about!} We recently sent a bouquet for the first time ever to Italy! yes – Italy! How fabulous is that?  We are  so happy to post the photos that this bride sent over! Many, many, many thanks Pucia! (Nicolina) Gratzi!

Beautiful bride, gorgeous local, LOVE the navy shoes and handbag on the MOB!

bye-bye! ~ xo, Emplume

There are so many great things happening at Emplume™ headquarters & all of them will be shared with you very soon! But first I’m dying to share this uber exciting bit!

You all know about Style Me Pretty right? It’s tag line “Obsessions for Brides” says it all.  A-ma-zing weddings from all over are featured there for brides ( & wedding lovers) to get super inspired by the beauty which is constantly on display here. Brides can also create inspiration boards and post them to share with everyone too. So Style Me Pretty has created a project called ‘Inspiration to Reality’ which allows wedding vendors from anywhere to come together as a team to make one of these inspiration boards a reality.  We were honored to be invited by our Detroit neighbor Tifany from Gourmet Invitations to be a part of the project: From Inspiration to Reality: The Design, II

First- here’s the fabulous inspiration board submitted by Chiara:

Feathers and Fur

For the Las Vegas Desert Romance theme based on this “Fur & Feathers” inspiration board Shannon and I created a really special brides bouquet and boutonniere to match. The Inspiration Board has beautiful warm fur elements and worn smooth leather details with ‘just right’ sparkle and, of course, the bold sexy color in the peacock-eye feather and bridesmaid dress which we love. We arranged a simple composition of our gorgeous signature feather flowers© with crystal rhinestone centers. Faux-leathery leaves are glam’ed up with shimmering bronze and copper-glitter trims the perimeter of the bouquet. We then finished in a satin ribbon handle, peacock sword feathers and crystal sprays, each in the fabulous bold teal color. Finally to fully honor the “Aviator” / Vegas Desert theme, the bouquet handle is embellished with a crisscross detail of leather lacing. We named this amazing bouquet  Ginger© 🙂

These are a few of our favorite photos from the shoot by the so so talented Chelsea Nicole.  You can see the full photo gallery here!

This team oozes talent. We couldn’t be more proud to be listed among them! Check them out and give ’em some love 🙂
